skypin’ with my soul mate
January 26, 2009

One of the best parts of my week and life is Skyping with my best friend and soul mate, Nuala.
Nuala now lives in Ecuador (speaks Spanish and everything!) because her man is with the foreign trade something or other with the Canadian Government and they are posted down south for the next two years. Happily, our contact hasn’t suffered from the distance due to the magic of the internet and free connection of Skype!
We met in grade 5 when I transfered schools and she dug my sassy red leather jacket that I strolled in with and although I’d like to say we hit it off right away, she was a bit of a dork and so it took some time for me to warm up to her. I did and since then we’ve been absolutely interconnected for going on 18 years now.
This amazing woman knows every single solitary detail of my existence – and I know hers. We’ve shared year upon year of laughter, tears, heartbreak, joy, dance parties, disappointment, inside jokes, melodrama, excitement, travels, firsts, letters, skits, arguments and of course, kiss and tells. I love her more then anything in this world and I honestly don’t have the words to accurately express how much she truly means to me. She is beyond the title of friend or even family member to me – she’s just my Nuala – part of me – this amazing gift I can’t comprehend why I’ve been given but grateful that I have.
She is sooooooo going to make fun of me for writing this… and I’d be pissed if she didn’t.
